Mr. Punch, British Vice-Consul at Copenhagen answered that
if the Belgian Legation or the Belgian Consul at Copenhagen
rould raise no objection, the British Consulate would give
the export permit.
Thereupon the Belgian Consul at Copenhagen,
after gaving discussed the matter with the Belgian Lega-
tion here, informed us that there was no objection to tho
xport of thegoods, and the late Mr. Punch, the British Vice-
bonsul, on hearing this, confirmed to the undersigned that the

glass could be shipped, without mentioning anything as regards

a special export permit from the Foreign Office in London,
being required.
on the strength of this assurance we bought the
glass,and paid for same at once to the Belgian firm.

lized by the Belgian Consul at Amsterdam which we sent
to you and on presenting this document to the British and
the Belgian Consulate at Copenhagen,we were given an export
permit. The latter was forwarded by us to Wessrs. Van Es &
an Ommeren, a Dutch firm or forwarding agents at Amsterdam,
ho are to ship the glass to Hongkong, but it was returned to
with the remark, that this paper was not sufficient and
at we must have an export permit from the Foreign office
